Hi, I am Mike Shawcross.
I am an equine photographer from Cheshire. I have always loved horses, they are such beautiful animals, both powerful and sublime in their movements. Intelligent and sometimes a little temperamental they can prove to be a handful at times. Yet we climb on their backs and thrill the judges in dressage, compete to jump the highest or race to see who's the fastest. If we fall we get back on and do it again.Yes I do ride and yes have fallen off numerous times, nothing serious though.
I started my photography on film sets, then progressed to headshots, which led to portrait work and finally fashion photography. When my partner bought her first horse a few years ago, Jerry is an Irish hunting cob but now with the help of her friend Jodie they have taken him on the dressage circuit. Photographing their journey led me into the equine world of dressage, showjumping, cross country and the odd showing days. I was given some opportunities to work on a XC clinic with Esther Mills and then at Beaver Hall (best bacon butties ever!) where I continue to work now, doing Dressage and Showjumping. I have my first Somerford camps this summer and really looking forw
ard to them.
